Meet your guide

Originally from Kildare, I’m a father of three young kids and a husband, now happily based in the Northwest since 2014—drawn here by our love of the outdoors and surfing. Nature has always been where I’ve felt most myself, but working in engineering meant my time outside was limited to weekends. That led me to take the leap, swapping the 9-to-5 for a lifelong dream—launching my own adventure company and sharing my passion for the outdoors with others on a daily basis.

Our postponed HER Outdoors 4-week surf programme with @sligosportandrecreation kicks off tomorrow, Friday 5th — and a couple of spots have just opened up. We also have one space available for Saturday morning’s women’s surf lesson at 9am. What an amazing summer of woodland adventures we had! A few weeks packed with feral forest fun 🌿 We explored and discovered all corners of the woods… Built dens, forts and bridges… Learned bushcraft skills — fire, tools and safe practice… Raced mini rafts and played epic games that went on and on… Hung out in hammocks, cooked over the fire, made crafts… And of course enjoyed plenty of all-important free play in nature! Each week ended with treats at base camp and a closing circle — where kids reflected on their highs and lows. Needless to say, s’mores always topped the list.. But it’s also lovely hearing how two kids from the same camp can have such different experiences. It’s a reminder of the value of free play and giving children the time and space to create their own adventures. Huge thanks to all the kids who came, and to the parents who managed drop-offs, pick-ups, muddy boots and forest-filled car boots every day.
